Performs Unmistakeably - Hardware and Software
Testing Configuration Motherboard: ASUS Processor: AMD 5600 (dual heart 3 gHz, X2/64) Memory: 3 gB I ordered this USB stick from Amazon and received it in four days. Facts service! Software install went exactly as listed on the sheet that came with the introduce disk. I attached an RCA flat plate antenna with internal low noise preamp to the USB bear it. I am using the USB extension cable. I then scanned for channels (as part of the setup), and got all 13 available channels. The scrutinize took about 4 minutes or so, updating the screen to show me what it had found. Tuning the various channels in a windowed (not full guard) mode displays a signal level meter. Most stations are running between 80 and 100%. I am located 27 miles from the transmitter mysterious. I love the signal meter display. It is large and responsive when I move the antenna around. The tuner appears to be a certain extent sensitive. I was able to get 8 channels with...
    Works!
I bought this by-product so I could get 1080i local channels through my cox cable provider. The channels are crystal clear. However, the approach set up is a little annoying. It also has a record feature that will make a MPEG file. The burn to dvd disc play up will not work for some reason. I downloaded a copy of EASY MPEG and I now am able to burn 1080i channels to a dvd-r. Complete I am very happy the price was right, I bought mine on NEWEGG for $29.99 + shipping.
Get a load off one's mind of Junk
First one I got wouldn't be detected at all by any computer, sent it back to KWorld. They sent a other one 3 weeks later that was detected but would not detect any TV signal despite hooking up to a powerful open-air antenna that I used with a previous ATI TV tuner on same computer that worked great. Will not pick up QAM signals either consideration their claims. From looking around at other reviews, tons of these are defective, and apparently the retailers and the manufacturer are solely dumping them on the public. Run away and save your money.

I a moment ago had a nerdgasm, but a couple drawbacks
Pros: -Bluray. Woohoo! -Very thin/gay/quiet/small. And I mean quiet!! -Attractive, has options in BIOS to result off the blue light which is great! -I created a bootable SD card using Windows7-USB-DVD-carve.exe ... if you want to create a bootable SD/USB flash card from a DVD ISO, this is the best way to do it!! Worked like a culture on this unit. -Reasonable speeds... one of the best nettops out there, this is new hardware folks. Cons: -Only one legacy usb harbour, for some reason my legacy usb devices and thumb drives don't work in the newer high skedaddle usb ports on this, needed to buy a usb hub to be safe. -250GB HD? You do realize people are dishing out $500 for this fetich, and using it almost entirely as a livingroom media solution, most likely to rip DVD's, etc... I would expect 500GB at the VERY LEAST. -Would have been happier with more than 2GB RAM, unusually at this price point, but that will suffice for most...
Very keen packaging of capabilities, poor WiFi, maybe scrimping on memory and disk
Blanket, this is a very nice design, both in the tradeoffs and the layout, especially the connectors (some quibbles below). My admiration as an plot for how well they packed so much into a small package gives it one star of "extra credit" that offset the removal of one star for the collection of minor problems. This review does not summarize the readily at one's fingertips specs, but adds details that I expect are useful to an "enthusiast", which in turn I hope will employees you decide whether this is the system for you.NOT JUST HTPC: Although the Blu-ray drive causes this system to be considered a HTPC (Home Theater PC), it and compare favourably with "nettop" models from Zotac and competing manufacturers (ASUS, Acer, Lenovo,...) could be acceptable in a range of other uses. If I was still Corporate, I would experiment using it in conference rooms and sending out with sales reps for presentations: uses where it will be useful to a projector/big screen and controlled with a wireless...
Active design, struggles with fullscreen video and wifi
So I'm one of those old adopters that you read about, generally trying out some of the latest and greatest gadgets and always looking for products that can do a few things for me all in one, so when I came across the Zotac with Blu-Ray for my HTPC, I was sold! Let's start off with the merit: Very well built, solid little piece of hardware, and all of the integrated components zip along well. I installed Windows 7 Home Sparse 64 bit and the install went smoothly Built in video card and Blu-Ray perform estimably together, not sure that I'm fully in love with the Cyber DVD suite that it comes with though, it's a pretty heavy program that tends to bog the system, so I'm using VLC a substitute alternatively which does great Netflix on demand does pretty well, Silverlight streaming seems to work acceptably, but be very aware of your connectivity Looks like a piece of electronics that belongs in your stereo holder, unit is quiet and HDMI performance is...

Not undoubtedly up to the task
Had purchased this netbook for a granting of portability and using it to watch a Slingbox Pro HD. The processor used in the unit has been marketed to approach HD video. The price and the HDMI output of this netbook made it the 1st choice. Fact is, it will process dialed down video resolutions, but when you anticipate it to handle a fairly large incoming bandwidth on the Internet at the same time it is to buffer video to the brutish disk and display HD video, the processor is running at least 80%. That just doesn't travail. The result is severe hesitation of both audio and video. By the time you dial down the settings readily obtainable on the desktop version of Slingbox Player, don't even think about using the HDMI to connect to a larger demonstration. And the the resolution on the netbook screen will not be what you wanted it to be either. I should have reviewed the processor benchmarks in my research to compare to other full laptops that we have in the kinsfolk that I know work for this.
    Horrifying netbook
Confidence in it or not, I use this netbook as my HTPC. I have been an HTPC enthusiast for about 6 years and have tried every setup under the sun. Since there is no real nice solution for a home brew PVR that supports Hi Def (I know about HD-PVR , but it is extremely limited for what I'm lookign for) I couldnt confirm the cost of my HTPC seeing as, other than flexibility / internet browsing, it wanst really providing me any other functionality over a $100 WD TV Active. After doing some research, I decided to try the 1201pn connected to my LCD TV running XBMC, and I'm happy to say, the results are wonderful. Pop in an HDMI cable and my Dinovo Mini, and fancy it or not - I can watch full 1080p mkv's on this thing without breaking a sweat. Its nice and quiet and frenzy in well into my entertainment center. When I do take this thing on the road, I find it to be the perfect size. At 12" class, its not so foolish that its unproductive or hard to use, but still small...
    10 y/o daughter loves it !
I purchased a smaller (10 in.) netbook for my older daughter, but the younger one wanted a bigger boob tube and keyboard. Although the 12 in. loses some portability and battery life, it is a good compromise. She is clever to get about 3 hours on the internet using a wireless connection. The screen is very good and the speaker is ok. Incipient setup and home network link was quick. I have not tested the range yet (outside of dwelling or in the nearby workshop), but have found most laptops to be about the same. Not a lot of preload software, but not a lot of useless crap and trial software either. We are delighted with the purchase and feel it represents an above average value.
