SYNET7WID 7 Inch Wireless Mobile
Details
DescriptionSYNET7WID 7 Inch Wireless Agile Internet Device - Windows CE OSCustomer ReviewsExpectationsIs it scrap or is it not? I took a chance on this product because it seemed to me that most of the negative reviews associated with it were not based on product distinction (though who knows how long it will last), but on how the product failed to live up to the purchaser's expectations. And it is those expectations that I mull over are misplaced. I bought this at CVS for $100+tax; MY expectations were that it could replace my Palm TX, which got a cracked protection in a mishap. The Palm TX was a handheld PDA with pretty similar specs - in terms of processing power, ROM remembrance, CF slot, etc. It was no speed demon on the internet - luckily, most sites would call up a page optimized for flexible devices. So you avoided most of the fancy stuff that bloats web pages down (or, depending on your POV, adds abundance and exciting content). I think what helps foster unrealistic expectations is that this Sylvania unit looks like a laptop, not a handheld PDA. So residents come to it with expectations... bring to perfection for what i wanted it for this is a direct machine, to be sure. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the negative reviews come from residents who apparently wanted a rolls royce for the price of a hyundai. I had very low expectations of this little ring..just needed to surf the web, really. It does that. It's slow. and some pages don't load. in items, it doesn't support you tube anymore. This little machine should not be your only computer, it won't support all of your computing requirements. However, I like that it's very portable, very simple and , frankly, disposable. if i lose it, or it breaks, I won't be crying. It has held up very well and has way outlasted the on one occasion period that I initially gave it. just don't expect a fancy, fast computer. it's not. (duh!) My Save Returned His As other reviews mentioned, we struggled to get the online set up (Roadrunner wireless). We called the person service number and within little time we were up and running. Though the rep was clearly ESL, he did a great job letting my spouse know what he needed. If this is a problem for another reader, I'd say hang up, call again, and hopefully you'll reach someone else on the next go. For the money well quality it. As someone else mentioned, more documentation would be helpful - e.g. what are the specs for SD cards? Is 8gbs to much? If I arbitrarily buy a standard SC card it'd be my success rate is that it won't work for some reason. Update Jan. 2011 - Spoke too soon. It ran great while it ran. It became a little buggy and I muse on it was a company rep who had my husband download a patch that was supposed to fix his problem. Instead of helping - he was no longer capable to get online. Then, he was also unable to get anyone on the phone who could help him... |

Don't depend on it as your primary mobile device.I like this headstone, and I keep it on my night stand for evening web surfing before I go to bed. Works great for casual use like that. I find that using the stylus is not needful and do everything with the tips of my fingernails/thumbnails. No finger touches work, however, but I quickly got used to the method I now use. But, when I go out, I still take my netbook. This design lets me keep the netbook downstairs where I use it most and still browse when I'm in bed without lugging anything around. There's a good assortment of apps on it, benefit a software installer (package manager, for those familiar with Linux) that comes with pre-installed. Restricted apps of questionable quality, for the most part. Hint: Download Opera, and use the App Store built into that. Most of the apps are not busy, there's a much better selection, and heck, Opera is the browser to use anyway. No Flash, as another user mentioned, but you can see online videos with the... Suitable, but no iPad I purchased the Sylvania mini note- in December 2010, but it has a better processor than the Augen tablet. Android 2.1 was optimized for smartphones with smaller screens, and is not optimized for spiral-bound notebook devices. The Sylvania mini tablet can do the following: 1) Has an accelerometer, but you can also use a setting to manual shift the telly orientation. 2) Can only use 16GB micro SD cards or smaller. The box even states 16GB micro SD cards, and not 32GB micro SD cards. 3) Use the stylus and not your get hold of, which is due to the problems of Android 2.1 on a tablet device. 4) Comes with a pre-installed music app and a personification/video app. 5) If you enable the third party install option, the following apps exertion without any problem: Angry Birds, Kindle, ASTRO File Manager, and Flash 10.1. I have problems with the ComiXology app. 6) Scheme has WiFi for web browsing, e-mail, and other apps that require it. 7) Two web... Dissoluteness of Money... When you buy something like this you are saying "I don't hunger for an Ipad or high-end tablet", I want something though that DOES work, is reliable for what I got it for....to thumb internet, e-read, and do the basics it's advertisement claims it will. I opened the packaging...the sticker on the movies was stuck on there as if they did not want it removed...it was beyond difficult to remove the stickiness from the screen. No clear guardian angel between screen and sticker. Then, the instruction book has 2 pages. That's it. I am one to read thoroughly through as best I can when I after to know how something I purchased works. I had 2 pages to read. So...I should be a genius with operating? nope. I had my computer guru fellow help me navigate through it. Finally figuring out the basics. Still mildly interested in this product. The third day I went to use...and yes I charged as instructed.....I turned it on, and the riddle remained FROZEN on the word Sylvania. I tried and tried to... |

The Sylvania Netbook at CVS: Is It Right for You? | Toshiba Net-Book
CVS has unveiled its great-awaited $99 Sylvania 7″ Netbook. There is much talk about the netbook online, both unambiguous and neutralizing, but quite more voiding than opinionated. In high-mindedness, the unimaginative netbook may have been subjected to an immoderately ticklish test.
