Creative Labs SB0880 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card
Details
DescriptionPC Gamers and audio enthusiasts looking for faster conduct and more realistic gaming sound as well as the richest, most dynamic audio experience for music and pictures.Customer ReviewsAstounding productI'm not what I would call a hardcore audiophile, but I like my music sounding stubborn and rich. I had an ASUS Xonar before this one, and I swapped it because the Xonar was not very good at games, which is the second use for the PC. I was fearful the X-Fi wouldn't live up the hype and I would lose music quality for games quality.I was imprecise. I cannot believe how incredible everything sounds. Music quality is perhaps the same or slightly better than with the Xonar, but gaming is very recently incredibly immersive. The only two things I don't like very much of the product is 1. the "Modes" are just absolutely that. "Entertainment mode" truly makes music sound incredible, but deactivates some gaming features, and "Gaming vogue" reactivates all those, but music doesn't sound as well. Switching back and forth isn't my idea of fun. 2. It's Ingenious. I'm probably one of the most anti-Creative people around since I can't agree with most of their business decisions, but sadly, they have way to many... Works well, modest drivers (for now) I was using a Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum before buying this file card, but the drivers for that card have been less than stable under Windows Vista/Windows 7, and I wanted a prankster with a TOSLINK input on the back, which this card has. It works much better than the on-board sound functionality, which would often squeak/hit upon into static with a high processor load, which made gaming difficult at best. I bought this as a substitute for of one of the ones built specifically for gaming because X-RAM is used in very few games, and I didn't think it would be much of a fringe benefits. My only real concern is that Creative's driver quality is variable at best, so I can't be sure it will toil as well in the future. My suggestion is that once you find a driver that you like, stick with it; don't upgrade just to upgrade. That may liberate sense with other drivers, like video drivers, but not with Creative drivers. IT WORKS WITH WINDOWS 7! It DOES occupation with Windows 7 (64 bit)! Please read the rest of my post because it may help you. I upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7 and needed a Windows 7 in accord sound card. I did some research and chose this card over the Extreme X-Fi. I installed the sound bank card card joker and booted up my PC, without disabling the onboard audio. After I downloaded the drivers, it worked nicely for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, I was getting popping and crackling noises throughout my music. I harmed the onboard audio, in the BIOS, and then I removed the drivers and downloaded them again. (I did this several times.) Mind-boggler did not go away. I removed the drivers, again, and restarted my pc, allowing Windows 7 to apply the Microsoft HD audio motto driver. The noise went away, and the music sounded pretty good, but I wanted the full functionality that I paid for.I contacted Originative tech support, and they were very helpful. I used some of their suggestions and added some of my own...
Logitech G35 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Headset
Details
DescriptionThe Logitech G35 headset. Contest-changing immersion with 7.1 surround sound powered by Dolby technology for a complicated soundfield. Featuring three swappable headband pads; three customizable G keys, on-ear audio wheel and an adjustable, noise-canceling microphone.Customer ReviewsSincere Fun.These headset are a lot of fun.I'm not a gamer - can't play many games because I get dizzy, but I am sort of a collector of headphones. Frankly, I expected these to be rotten and was more than pleasantly surprised to find that they are really quite good.OK, so they look like some kind of boy toy branch fiction gizmo. For me, I could do without all the buttons. But having a volume button on the headphone and a mute for the mic is very productive. Most headphones depend upon the right combination of source and headphone to get a good sound. If you twist most high end headphones directly into your ipod or computer soundcard the sound quality is atrocious. The to be honest mate of source and sound can mean that the right $20 headphone in your ipod can give surprisingly good durable if it is a good match. The good (and the bad) of a USB headset is that it bypasses the amp in your computer soundcard. Instead, the digital to audio processing occurs... Large audio positioning, lackluster quality For the sometime half-year, I've been using a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card and a yoke of Sony MDR-NC40 headphones. The combination provides wonderful control over sound quality, whether in music, media, or gaming. However, the CMSS Headphone "Essential Surround" technology that the Creative cards use isn't particularly impressive to me. It works incredibly well for some residents, but it doesn't "cut it" in my case.Today, I purchased a G35. I was incredibly eager to try it out because, wherever I looked, the headset got absolutely glowing reviews, praising the clarity of the headset and the impressiveness of the Dolby 7.1 Practical Surround soundfield. Driver installation was simple enough; I downloaded the proper driver from the Logitech website and installed it. I didn't have to restart my computer, which I always find to be a added to.I plugged in the phones, fired up a DTS demo, and... it sounded terrible. I went into the drivers and tried playing with the... Most excellent USB headset I have ever used. Logitech's G35 in actuality sets a mark for gaming headsets. Other surround sound headsets that I have used have been corpulent and uncomfortable after sustained use, however the G35 has an adjustable headband and comes with three different cushions for whatever shape head you may have. The cups are padded rather nicely and do a musical decent job of blocking out ambient sound. The USB cord is sleeved and the whole thing really feels well crafted. Features like the microphone automuting when you put it in the straight position make you wonder why this hasn't been done with every headset on the market. The software is simple and down-to-earth to use, however i found it somewhat limited. The only balance controls are for bass and treble, with no presets or anything like that for types of music. Their is no check over the surround sound to balance your own levels or test it; the only thing you can do is turn the surround look on and off using the manual switch on the back of the left cup...
Creative Labs SB0950 ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Audio System
DescriptionSuffer high quality sound...from your notebook. The ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook sound card features X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity technology that restores detail and vibrance to your MP3s and other compressed music. Watching pictures on your notebook with X-Fi headphone surround technology will sound like you're in a room full of speakers. Plus, games are more immersive with underwrite for realisticEAX sound effects that make you feel like you're actually in the game.Customer ReviewsI am still struggling to view the negative reviews...Unfortunately, the tainted reviews on this product--mixed here on Amazon and elsewhere--delayed my purchase of this product and almost stopped me from purchasing it wholly. Fortunately, in my experience the less than stellar reviews were incorrect. This product has, quite simply, solved all of my audio issues. My issues were on one's uppers volume output and popping/crackling. Sadly, dropping over $1K on a new higher end laptop was not sufficient to avoid having to stock with these annoying audio issues. Both issues were solved immediately with this product. No more popping/crackling and now the aggregate gets as loud as I want it with plenty of room left to spare. In addition, the importance of the audio is crisper/clearer and more room-filling.I had also planned on setting up a wireless relationship to my stereo with the use of an Apple Airport Express module but I just found out that this item works wirelessly with a Artistic receiver which costs about $20 less so I will be making... The hang of the limitations of this product I bought this wag after upgrading to a new laptop which only had an express card slot which prevented me from using my FANTASTIC Audigy 2ZS PCMCIA likely also made by creative. I was very disappointed to find that this card does not include ASIO drivers or perform tools acceleration in music DAWs. That was a huge letdown for me since I used to love using the ZS2 in conjunction with FL Studio at very low latency settings, unfortunately this is not the the reality with the SB0950. The only real advantage that you get by having SB0950 card over a traditional laptop is the software parcel, and the ability to output multi-channel audio. The SB0950 comes with Creative's exemplar software that it ships with most of its cards including support for EAX effects, CMSS3D (simulated hem in sound similar to Dolby Pro Logic), Crystallizer (improves mp3 audio quality through up-sampling). That's all comely and dandy but doesn't make me see how the software merits purchasing this piece of hardware... It's a advantage to hear Some laptop devices (like my Dell XPS 1530) use an "bad" sound chipset that will not allow the Vista O.S. to record "What You Hear." This sound pasteboard will not only fix this SNAFU, but also generate excellent high fidelity sound on your laptop. The price may seem a bit steep but once you advised the awesome sound, you'll be happy with the investment. |

brand new Dell Laptop, but speakers are crackling all the time?
is this only because its new? or is it broken?

Hi,
No, it should not be crackling.
All things considered a faulty connection somewhere, as it is new I would contact the supplier as it is still under guarantee.

Why are my laptop speakers crackling, but my far-sighted is all the way down OR off?
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, manufactured in 2005.

My dell inspiron 1501 laptop speakers: built in, and external; always crackle when im listening to music why?
It mostly happens when i unfolded up another program. I have tried downloading countless drivers and other sound enhancers through the internet. It is the not the speakers that are trained because even when i plug in seperate speakers it still crackles.
Take it in to one of those peculiar computer shops, they may look like little hole in the wall places, but they are as a matter of fact big helps, and computer nerds, and with a small problem like sound crackling, they can find out what is wrong without
