Fantabulous, except for one glaring problem
This keyboard is wonderful - nearing everything that I would want in a keyboard, and nothing more. The quote that comes to mind is "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take in a different place."BUT -- I can confirm that, as the previous poster noted, this keyboard is broken and unusable for a rapid typist. It has two problems: First, INitial CAps; the shift key does not immediately release in software when you physically emancipation it, so a fast typist ends up with TWo CApitals at the beginning of almost every sentence. Titles are particularly bad; you end up with "THe PResident of the Agreed STates." It's particularly infuriating in that it happens so reliably that when you backspace and re-type, you get the exact same delinquent.The second issue is that, often, double-clicking a character will give only ONE copy of that character. So "Three little puppies hopped over the puddle" becomes "Thre litle pupies hoped over the...

oddly unusable
This keyboard is unspeakable for anyone who types quickly. From other posters, I estimate that below 40wpm is probably fine. I'm 60-100wpm, and consistently have problems.I'm a prodigious fan of thinkpads, and I've been using the old 'lenovo usb travel keyboard with ultranav' on my desktops for years. The old model has been discontinued, so I picked up this new one to as the next new keyboard for my machine. However, IT IS HORRIBLE. The shift key mechanism is so slow to manumitting that it's nearly impossible to get only one letter shifted. I usually get two, and sometimes THREE keys shifted. I have to backspace and fix it nearing every time. Further, the same slow-key-release causes problems with double-tapping of characters. Sometimes when tapping a key multiple times only one of the lettering comes out. This is not as consistent a problem for me as the shifting, but it happens repeatedly.Unlike other posters, I surmise this is a hardware, not a software problem. The key...

It's a bloody fine keyboard for all but the most picky
I've adapted to a whole bunch of external Trackpoint keyboards since the Trackpoint was first invented (when I worked at IBM Almaden Research, where Ted Selker, whose lab it came from, also worked).I publish this keyboard in my "Top 10%" Trackpoint keyboards. The key action is firm, crisp, and quiet. The large strike out key is a welcome improvement, the volume and mute buttons are very well designed, and the lack of an annoying chase pad is a gift.As for the other reviewer's comments about it being "slow" -- I'm about a 40wpm touch typist (I've never improved my scamper past my 9th grade typing class), but I've been typing all my working life, and I just don't concoct your average typist who is similar to myself is going to run into any double character issues (I just typed issues twice, without event, BTW).As to the "flimsy construction" I can't agree. The pickle this mouse cap has is way to big for my Dell Lattitude's mouse stick but for a penny I couldn't be bothered to return it. Got some paste and now it's on real tight.

which laptops from dell or hp use trackpoint navigation?

I would like to recall which laptop models use the same trackpoint navigation device as thinkpad laptops. this option doesn't seem to be nearby from the dell or hp online store.
Looking at pictures, it should be equitably obvious? I know that my new Dell D820 Lattitude has this feature.
Touchpads seem to be the way of the future though - that - and healthy wireless USB mice...at least before touchscreen takes

I am looking to buy a computer and I be inclined the IBM style trackpoint over a touchpad and am looking for a laptop with either the trackpoint or both the trackpoint and touchpad. I don't want a Lenovo so I am wondering if anyone knows of any models
dell latitudes have them... but they aren't absolutely "small"

I've been having a lot of problems as of unpunctual, which are related to freezing. Here's what happened:
