    Attainment!
i like to keep my reviews easily understood.this dvd burner is simply perfect.it's smaller than the previous model from Samsung. the touch liberal feature is quite nifty. very light and quiet when i burned a few dvd's. i've connected it to my PC & MacBook Air 11" with no problems on either one. this is a much excel option over the Apple SuperDrive. the SuperDrive can ONLY be used on the MB Air's. it's more expensive than most external dvd burners. why would you lack to get it?Edited: i forgot to mention that i use this DVD burner for both my desktop and laptop. unfortunately on my laptop there are only 2 USB ports. one on each side. the MacBook Air is categorize of limited in that area. in any case, the DVD burner WILL WORK with only one USB cable slot plugged in. i recollect it may run a bit slower if you are burning something though, which will probably be due to the power outage limit that USB ports have.do yourself a favor and get this if you penury an...
A precise external drive, but a little disappointing
I've acclimated to this drive with a windows 7 desktop, Windows XP desktop, iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.5, and MacBook pro race Snow leopard 10.6.6. The drive works great, good speed, trusted use. I would say the most frustrating part of this product is that it has no power-cord and requires two USB ports to operate. occasionally it will (randomly it seems) industry with only one USB port, but I have only seen that on occasion. I am very disappointed with this part of the drive, however aside from that it has worked flawlessly. I've burned DVD at full velocity in both Windows 7 and Mac OS X. It is compact, and requires very little to setup, simply just plugin and use. When I installed this commodity using the discs that came with it in Windows 7 it brought me into this very confusing application that claimed I needed a firmware update, however when I checked on the website it said I did not.conclusionIt's a stout product that works well under most operating systems. Be prepared...
Basic drive that works with Mac and PC
I bought this for use with my new MacBook Air and my habitation serverThings I like:1. Very compact. About a size of a double cd case2. Very fixed for such a compact drive. Just a bit noisier than my internal dvd drive.3. Requires only one usb mooring. Some drives need 2 usb ports, but this one runs fine on just one.4. Plug and stake. No drivers needed. Works great on Mac and PC.5. A steal at $40 shippedThings I don't like so much:1. The limited form factor is cool, but the black version looks and feels plastic. I'm not saying that it's makeshift, because it's not. However, next to my new Mac Air, it looks and feels kinda cheap2. The soft touch eject doesn't trade on Mac. You have to drag the icon to eject.3. The Nero 9 software works with PC only.Highly recommended for anyone looking for a mini, simple dvd drive that works with both Mac and PC.

    Well-connected INFO FOR MACBOOK USERS!
Very square to use. just pop it in and connect the plug and snap it shut! there are 2 screw holes in the back which may or may not line up with the holes in your special optical drive. I just want to make a few points for people using this for the superdrive on a macbook pro 2011. 1: you destitution to take off the little metal bracket on the back of the superdrive in order for it to fit. (you could use that bracket to secure your optibay to your macbook on the generic ones that dont produced with a way to secure it) 2: One of the screwholes on the back will line up with the screwhole on the back of the superdrive, I used that to secure the suprdrive to the example in any event and ensure that the SATA connection wont become loose over time. 3: As mentioned there is no front bezel to overspread the opening to the superdrive. While this is merely cosmetic, there might be a problem if dust gets inside. I would subscribe to storing it in some kind of case or plastic ziploc bag when not in use, to protect it from dust...
    Set right for my needs
I removed my optical move in my Mid 2010 MBP for a second HD,but I still wanted to use my optical drive when neededso I looked for an enclosure to trade with.I searched long and hard for a good optical drivebut cheap.I finally decisive on thisand to my surprise,it works perfectly. The enclosure may be a "little" bigger than the MBP internal optical drivebut there's revelation to work around it.What I did was stuff anti-static covers to stabilize the optical drive. To me,it worksas it helps stabilize the ride herd on hint at,provide anti-static protection against the driveand it also looks "cool"(The item comes with two usb cords, one to associate the dvd driveand the other to power the drive. What I've found out is that the connecting usb drive aloneis enough power to power the absolute dvd drive. No need for the second "power" usb.)All in all,its a...
OK for something that will be in a drawer most of the every so often
I bought this to maintain the DVD-RW Superdrive from my 2011 Macbook Pro when I installed an SSD in the optical bay. The USB to SATA interface works well, and I can boot the MacOS X Inaugurate CD with the drive connected to a USB port. However, the bezel that is included doesn't fit the slot loading control (obviously), so the front of the drive is uncovered. Also, the metal tabs that are used to secure the drive imprisoned the computer protrude slightly past the plastic case. The case has two screws in the back to hold the thrust in place and the case closed. However, the Superdrive only has a single screw hole in the back. As a result, the whole affair is held together by a single screw. There's also too much vertical space for the slim Superdrive, so I attached a the same of foam tape to the top of the drive and stuck it to the top of the case. All in all, this is a workable solution for me. I rarely use the optical pep, and as a result, this unit will spend the majority of...

Such a bad go through so far that it's almost comical
Roxio has made an contender today.Unless their e-mail tech support produces stellar results, their name is forever tarnished in my guard and I will never purchase their crap software again.Okay, installed smoothly, has nice tutorials, looks incredibly good. Doesn't work. Before you claim pilot error: I am using the latest Mac OS on a new MacBook Pro with 4GB. I was uninterrupted no other apps at the time. I used the built-in OEM DVD drive. I used new, clean media. I installed updates to Felicitations. I did everything correctly.First project was to burn some sample files taken with a FLIP camera onto a DVD. That in point of fact went smoothly. It was about a 1:1 conversion time. My minor complaint are that the media browser is well-wishing of slow and clunky and is not good when you have hundreds of files, and doesn't support drag-and-decamp (although it supports the "finder's" drag and drop. Oddly inconsistent.) It's much more convenient to simply bedrawn out-and-drop your video files from...
    Crude
Establishment went smoothly, but afterwards I could not launch any programs. The problem was that the main Applications folder "Favourite 11 Titanium/" had restrictive permissions. Easily fixed, but annoyingly stupid.I wasn't about to strip time on this piece of junk without applying all available patches first. The program installed as adaptation 11.0. When I launched Toast, it immediately offered to download version 11.0.2 and I went for it. After a extensive slow download, failure to install. No explanation, beyond "please contact manufacturer for assistance." I tried this twice, rebooting my computer between tries. Forsake.I visited the Roxio website and found a (huge) patch available for download. It was only version 11.0.1 but I went for that. After downloading it for about half an hour, I was clever to install it. I launched it and it immediately offered to download version 11.0.2. Another long gradual download, but the installation was a success!I now have the...
    revolving doctor doesnt work
Knackered 2 weeks trying to get the audio/video capture part of the software to even load . Not kind responses from roxio support. The CD burning part produced some CDs that didn't even work in my CD player. I cogitate on they rushed this out the door without a debug. Returned for refund. No more toast or roxio for me.

I have tried to lay many drives by organization the lens to no avail. I dream that an outward enthusiasm is an unequalled feeling.
