Benefit the expense.
My old PC was over 4 years old and even-handed not keeping up any more. I didn't consider getting a Mac until I'd kicked around the idea of learning iOS programming which requires OSX. After looking at the prices of these computers I balked, I could establish a bleeding edge "Hackintosh" for what they were asking and still have money left over! A little research into installing OSX onto a non-Apple organization nipped that in the bud, it seems more headache than it's worth. So I sucked it up and bought an iMac and wow am I glad I did. The specs may not be top of the line, but everything else about this computer is!First, the hardware. The cloak is the most obviously amazing thing here, it makes the very nice Viewsonic monitors on my Windows box look washed out and sleepy in comparison. Colors are vibrant, text is crisp, pixels are nearly invisible. If you're deciding between this and the larger iMacs, the 21" looks massive on my desk and I can't imagine how monstrous the 27" would...

I have been a viability long Windows guy. I love Windows, even to this day. I was plopped in front of a computer when I was about 5 years old the first time, and the computer that I was sat in front of was a Windows engine. Now, 23 years later, I can say I've honestly spent my whole life using Windows machines, and loving them. I even have a Windows 7 shape that I'm still really into, because Windows 7 is just a phenomonal OS, and in my opinion Microsofts best version of Windows yet.I frankly never had the need to even consider buying an Apple computer, especially with the extremely high price tag and the elitist inclination that "Mac people" exude. I just figured it was all hype and people needing a way to be different, and have compassion for incline special. But then I started trouble shooting computers on a daily basis. If you scarcity the best that money can buy
This iMac takes up least desk space, has absolutely no wires (except power), yet still has really rocking specs. I setup Boot Party, so that I can dual-boot to either Windows or MacOS (because I need to be able to run some Windows-specific software for profession). Running Windows on this machine is like watching a non-HD channel on an HD TV, though...as soon as I boot to Windows, I look accelerate to booting back to MacOS. MacOS has the stability of Unix/Linux, but with a GUI that's more crisp and fresh than Windows.The ironmongery is an excellent product. They do make a 27" model, too, which seems better, at least on paper. But that big of a screen on my desk would look droll. This 21" looks a little large on my desk, but the look works, because the iMac's appearance is so lucid and clean.This is the first Apple computer that I have ever owned (or used), and now that I own one, I can't think of a single reason that I would want to own any other computer...

I got this in dejection when I needed a disc drive for my G5.It has been months.Not a hiccup.It is very fast. Noticeably faster than the goods 160.And it is very quiet.It has increased my system speed and gives lots of room for expansion. I am impressed.Update January 2009. This spin is still going strong and works great every day.Update January 2010. This fine draft of equipment has yet to have a problem.

Righteous the drive, ma'am...
As M. Mola points out, this is an OEM container. It not only has no instructions or software, it also does not have a connector cable, an IDE four-pin to SATA power adapter, or mounting screws.If you stand in want to replace a failed drive and don't want the clutter that usually comes with a drive, this is for you.If you craving to add an additional drive to an existing system, you'll need to get the cabling and mounting hardware elsewhere.

I bought this to supersede the hard drive that failed in my imac. What can I say: no problems setting up, more space, pretty cheap - simply no complaints!

Fanciful!
With some trepidation, I made the big swop from PC to MAC. It takes a little getting used to, but so far, so good! The 17" iMac is gorgeous and does what it is hypothetical to do. The Dual Core processor is a nice touch, it is very fast. The 1gb of standard RAM is sufficient for most, and if you requisite more, it is upgradeable to 3gb. There is a user-accessable panel so you can install the memory yourself. I would have liked a larger implacable drive, maybe that is something I can upgrade in the future. The slot loading Super Drive does it all and is very presumptuous--no trays to malfunction or break off. The system comes with a cool little remote control that attaches magnetically to the side of the supervise when not in use. You can access the multimedia functions of the computer with the remote via Front Row. The only complaint I have about the remote is that the battery was completely unresponsive when I received the package! What's up with that, Amazon??? The Physical 17-inch iMac
When friends and kindred see my 20-inch iMac and decide it's more than they need, I recommend this one.They're still thanking me.Yes, there's a lower-priced 17-inch Apple computer called "iMac" but it's in effect Apple's replacement for the eMac classroom computer. It comes with a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 512Mb of system RAM. The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator takes a least of 64 Mb from the system RAM plus up to 16 Mb for 3D graphics, leaving 432Mb for the operating system. The optical Combo scenic route reads CDs and DVDs but only burns music and data CDs. Airport Wi-Fi is built in but there's no Bluetooth, Front Row media or Apple Insignificant. It's a workhorse but hardly a thoroughbred.Maybe Apple wanted to go head-to-head with the cheapie PC makers and say "Look! We did it! An iMac for under a fine!" And like a loss-leader Windows PC, once you add all the upgrades you really, really crave, you'll come pretty darn close to the price of...
Little yet Powerful
This is not intended to be a technical review stuffed with a lot of jargon and technical data. This is a snapshot summary of what I dream up to be important to know for the average consumer looking for a more real summary of the iMac often omitted in a intricate spec sheet offered by Apple, including set up, ergonomics, etc.-Set up was a few minutes initially since I knew all my communication. The computer took another 20 minutes or so to automatically download 7-8 updates to the iPod, OS, Quicktime, etc.-Stand in readiness c stick to for the monitor is built in, plugged in the mouse and keyboard, power, and off I went! (No tools except fingers and guns!)-No desktop, everything is built into the flat screen-In the box the unit is about 25 pounds, including the mouse, keyboard, cables, etc. (I was so surprised how inane it was!)-8x DVD/CD burner-Super fast start up after turning the computer on in as little as 15 seconds (although it seems to diverge in certain...
When we tested this entity we were talented to power it on, but we noticed some problems. We find credible this is do to a bad video in the offing, or a bad joint from the video be forthright to the motherboard. The next and most leading hornet's nest is that for some unfamiliar reasoning the element would power on for about five minutes and then randomly wheel off.

I have an Imac G5 that was allowed to me a while age, and I was wondering if there is any way to tell the technical aspects of it (i.e. hz, hard drive size, RAM...etc.) without a instructions.

I have the emachine but a lover of mine has a g5 that he can sell me for $250. So should I consider ditching my eMachine for the g5. Plus I need something that I can politely edit footage on.
I have an iMac G5 at labour and it is possibly the slowest computer I have used since 1997. Nearly each webpage load tresses the computer as the "pinwheel" spins and spins for 10-20 seconds. More tangled tasks push this wait-time up even more.
You may have some malware slowing it down... try direction an anti-virus and anti-spyware scan. Also it may be because it's a Mac XD.
