Works as advertised!
My garage is a fork building about 15' away from my house, so I needed something to tell me if I left the door open. I'm using this about 100' to a different place from the transmitter - a bit too much for it. It worked fine at first, but then would lose signal on occasion. I noticed that the receiver had an sensor but the transmitter didn't. I opened up the transmitter and found the antenna "loop" - I simply soldered on a kind of wire of the appropriate length (this uses 390mhz, so I used a 1/2 wave term of wire, which is 14.4 inches). Works perfectly now!

Value the money spent
It isn't the most strapping device, but it was worth the money spent on it. The sensor attaches to the garage door with sticky back velcro. This makes it leisurely to remove to change the battery. I put it on the top of the door, so it will indicate open as soon as possible. Range seems adequate. The only unknown is how long the transmitter battery will last. It uses a nickel sized lithium room.Update 2006-10-25: I still don't know about the longevity of the transmitter battery (still going strong), but I have loved this portion for the past few months. It has become a little "confused" two times over the last 6 months. It would indicate open, when the garage wasn't. I unplugged the anchor unit and immediately plugged it in and all was fine. I would purchase this again and wish I had done so sooner.

This oversee started failing after a month (of which, unfortunately, we were away for over 2 weeks). After testing and re-programming and varying batteries 3 times at $2.50 a pop, it was apparent that the sending units were defective. Called Chamberlain, who extremely that the sending units (sensors) were defective. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU IF YOU BUY THROUGH AMAZON!! THESE PRODUCTS DO NOT HAVE A FACTORY WARRANTEE! You have 30 period to return defective products to Amazon. After that you have garbage.

With this kit and a but time, you can repair your garage door opener.
I was faced with the conclusiveness to purchase a new garage door opener for about $230 or repair the existing opener from 1992 which lacks some of today's safety features. Since I don't use this garage door often and I don't have litter, I opted to save some cash and do the repair myself. I have no previous experience of doing these types of garage door opener repairs, but as a do-it-yourselfer I figured it was advantage the attempt.The kit came with detailed instructions which broke the process down into 5 main steps each with multiple specific tasks. The instructions were not exact for my opener, but were close enough to get the point. The steps start with removing the motor with the worm, removing the confine stem with the gear, replacing the worm, replacing the gear, and finally reassembling everything. Once the first two steps were completed I brought the parts lining to work on. I had the most trouble removing the tightly set pin to replace the gear. About two hours...
Not for the collapse of heart....
This was a lot of travail, more than I had anticipated, despite the excellent reviews here, warning of the many nuts, plugs, and pins affected.The directions were so-so. I found that they were written very generically with the intent to apply to variations of the models. The diagrams could have been more acute...for example, I had trouble figuring out where the retainer clip and limit drive gear (2A) was. It's the chaste thing on the end of the sprocket assembly shaft. My advice is to take your time and move very slowly through the instructions, interfere by step. There were a few things that delayed me:* The sprocket assembly had to be lifted up through the hole in the chassis, and I only had 2 inches of permission between the top of the opener and the ceiling of the garage. This meant that the opener had to come down a few inches. I suspended it with rope and bungees since taking it down down to the ground would have meant un-bolting it from the chain axel, and I didn't...

A replacement part - with instructions!
I saved myself ~$75 in labor charges doing this myself. It's a Prosaic issue with Craftsman garage door openers - The main gear set strips out. Mine seemed to have lasted a good 8 years, so I in fact can't complain. The cost of the gear kit was a lot better than a complete new garage door opener.My only recommendation with DIY on this, is REMEMBER TO PLUG BACK IN ALL SENSORS!! OOps!

Garage door opener improve JUJU!
Correct remedy for our older garage door. Ours had broken after nearly 15 years of constant use. We had broken it unhampered and were manually triggering the mechanism ourselves. Some days we were sitting in the driveway for more than 5 min. at a time trying to get it to toil, our Ju Ju was fading and we needed help! None of the big name hardware stores carried anything for an older door. Thank you for this significant opener!

My old Genie garage door opener of many years slowly messed up. The new one works with nine or twelve pin models Simply remove the cover and using the old opener, match the pattern of on/off settings from your old to new. Ladylike surprise that saves $3.00; it comes with a nine volt battery included. From 25 feet surface the house, through my van's glass, it immediately opened the garage door. Easy and it works!
