The with greatest satisfaction calculator I've ever used.
I unquestionably love my HP Business Consultant - even though I don't use half of the features that it offers. What I like the best: 1) shows you the results of your last three calculations - a honest timesaver when you're doing comparisons; 2) remembers your last calculations even after you turn it off; 3) tremendous rolodex feature that I use a lot; 4) a great travel alarm clock; 5) lot of functions convenient with a minimum of keystrokes; 6) easy to read display; 7) solid edifice. The calculator is a bit bulky and is heavier than other calculators, but it helps me so much, it is worth it. I use it at work a lot instead of the calculators and adding machines provided, it is so much loftier. Mine lasted for10 trouble-free years. Some of the keys are just starting to malfuntion, and I will renew it with the same model. Not too many electronic items that haven't been improved in 10 years - this is a very useful undying!
It will disintegrate b fracture
I categorically like the features of the calculator, but no matter how careful you are, the battery compartment door will break. I've had four of them, and the same upon thing happened to every one of them, without ever having been dropped or abused in any way. The plastic holding the battery section door has broken off and been laying on the desk without the caluclator even having been touched. When it breaks in this attitude, the batteries loose contact and all data is lost. It's to bad an otherwise great product has to have a design rupture like this.

OK calculator that sorely requests an update
I was surprised at how OLD this feature is - the manual is from the early eighties, and that's the kind of technology you get. For example, it has the ACRS table (reduction for tax purposes) in it's memory, yet that was replaced years ago by Modified ACRS (or MACRS), so that calculator's function is pass and therefore useless. I did just as well, even better, with a "cheap" yet functional TI BA-35 Solar for things like smart TVM calculations. And if you're going to spend over $100 on a calculator, why not buy a decent graphing calculator? Things like histograms with this 19BII are a total number joke compared to them. I really wish that HP would make a 19BIII model. They could give this thing some Existent statistical graphing capability, make a higher resolution graphing display, update the functions, give it an geometric entry option, replace the ACRS with MACRS, etc. Until then, I'll be using my graphing calculator.

HP's get the better of designed calculator
I have been a big fan of HP calculators for about 25 years now, and have about 15 of them in my garnering. The HP-32SII is the best-designed calculator they have yet made. Some of the upper-end models are a bit much and complex to use, while some of the lower-end models use algebraic dialectics and are lacking in some commonly needed features. The HP-32SII is just right -- enough features to energetic it very useful, while not being overdesigned. It's easy to program, and its RPN continues to be one of my favorite features. This is the calculator I use for scientific use on a constantly basis. You won't be disappointed with this one.

ROLLS ROYCE of calculators
I purchased my first calculator about 30 years ago - the HP35 for US$400. I have Euphemistic pre-owned Hewlett Packard calculators ever since. My second purchase was the HP 12C, a beautifully designed financial calculator that is still on the make available some 15 or 20 years later and which I still use from time to time. I have used the HP32SII since 1993 under the harsh conditions of classroom use as a math teacher in a secondary school. Chalk dust is ever show and I couldn't count the number of times it has fallen from my desk to the floor. I recommend this calculator to my chief math students but they shy away from it because of the price. This is false economics. None of the other brands have the durability to last, making them in the prolonged run expensive calculators. I know this from the experience of my students who purchase cheaper competing brands.The features that fascinate me to the HP 32SII are the Reverse Polish Notation, which is the superior way of doing arithmetic and the ease...

I have hardened the 32SII for a few years now. I agree with the other reviewers about RPN.This calculator is not only the finest calculator ever, from the standpoint of power and value, but I think it ranks nearby the top of the finest product designs ever, for any product. There is nothing about it that can be improved. The form factor is just perfect. All functions are where they belong. Every key clicks the same, and clicks right. Batteries last forever. This product should be in a museum of extraordinary product design.Having said that, I will editorialize a bit. I am severely disappointed that HP discontinued this offshoot. I think it speaks volumes that the new HP cannot recognize its own product excellence, and apparently fails to value the things that brought it client loyalty.

With the HP 17BII economic calculator, you can perform more than 250 business and statistical functions from wherever you happen to be. You can calculate loan payments, amortization, interest rates and conversion, internal dress down of return, net present value, bond price and yield, depreciation, and percentages, to name only a few.
The bottom track on the two-line display shows the menu labels for the five major menus in the calculator: Financial, Proprietorship Percentages, Statistics, Time Manager, and Equation Solver. The menu keys deduct you to shift between functions. The top line shows the numbers or letters you enter and the resulting caution. Each menu has subfunctions and built-in variables for greater complexity. A beeper sounds when you commentators the wrong key, when an error occurs, or when you are late for an appointment.
The HP 17BII has 8,000 total bytes in RAM (6,750 bytes increased by 1,250 for your built-in variables). You can monitor the available memory (both in bytes and percentages) by high-priority shift-MEM. The calculator retains current functions until you press "clear data." If you accidentally halt the machine off, just turn it back on and your calculation will reappear. After 10 minutes of nonuse the calculator turns itself off, but your most fresh information will still be there.
The HP financial calculator interfaces with an HP infrared printer (sold separately), allowing you to run off tables, lists, and payment schedules whether you are--in a meeting or on an airplane.

Loving terrible calculator for those in financial services industries
One of the finest features of this calculator is that the calculations (i.e. present value/future value calculations and basic mortgage payment calculations)are menu provoked using a series of buttons at the top of the calculator. You simply input the data per the associated input knob. In addition, this calculator is a lot easier to use than the 12B which is the standard in the leasing industry. The 17B version allows you to input your facts in a straight forward fashion rather than the "reverse" data input method of the 12C. HP also did a charitable job with the instructional booklet you receive with the calculator. The booklet gives you numerous sample problems and does a enthusiastic job of highlighting the capabilities of the calculator in an easy to understand format without all the technical jargon. I wouldn't be without this calculator.
The Crush Ever!
Look no further. The standard HP workhorse is a legend for good reason. This is the best financial calculator available. It is durable, relaxing to use, and highly versatile. Many HP calc lovers prefer the 12C to this because of size. Fair enough, but if you don't have the time or take responsibility for to learn RPN then the 17BII is your ticket as it allows either RPN or algabraic entry.The programmable solver is an awesome cut as it saves a ton of time for calcs outside of the 250 preprogrammed. Also, the feel of the push handle keys are superior to other brands. There is no doubt an entry took place. Excellent freestyle life. Sure it is a little pricey compared to other financial calculators but you will never need another. This indulge is built like a '56 Buick and will probably outlast you. If you are searching for a financial calculator then you allow the importance of value over low cost. This is the one.
The most adequate financial calculator
The HP-17ii is the most intuitively transparent financial calculator I have ever seen or used.I have been teaching finance for undergraduate and graduate students for a bevy of years. This calculator, although expensive, is the best of the bunch. I have used HP-12C and HP-18, a wide variety of (badly constructed) TI calculators, but I have not found a more apt, easy to use, intuitive calculator than the HP-17ii. My graduate students find it very useful and easy to use. For them the RPN is not a maladjusted.While the 12C is considered the "industry standard", it is very difficult to use; it is an old platform and slow. The [$] price contradistinction is well worth it. Although the HP-17ii is widely used in the investment business, it cannot be used on the AIMR administered CFA exams. This is a caring.The only problem I have is the price; it is not entirely possible to ask undergraduate students at a public institution to fork out [$]. In my undergraduate classes I use the HP-10.
