    Electrically Things, Physically Doesn't Fit
At first glitter, this adapter is exactly what it claims to be: An adapter for an older 2.5" notebook with a 44-pin IDE (a.k.a. PATA) interface to use a newer SATA oppressive drive or solid state drive. Upon working with it, however, the adapter won't fit into my notebook. The lack of any documentation and the jumper (see notes below) tending to visually mingle in with the actual IDE interface combine together to take away one star. (It also doesn't help that the jumper ships in something other than the stated neglect position.) The inability to use this adapter in my HP zv6130us notebook takes away the other two stars. Replacement 2.5", IDE, ordinary hard drives are still available, but to truly upgrade you need to use a solid-state plunge. Modern SATA SSDs can outperform the UATA/100 or /133 IDE interface at half the toll per GB of first generation IDE/PATA SSDs that have performance barely any better than what's already in my system. If you're going to buy...
It works but does not fit
For all who have problems will murder the jumper and it works perfectly with the cloned disk. I did it with a cloned disk on a Sony VAIO and it works extremely.
    MicroSATAcables-adapter
Indoors very quickly-the packaging was a bit flimsy but inside was A-OK/very neat design..this is the only company that offered a movables explaination about the printed circuit board function..I want to upgrade an old Laptop to SSD/I will first try a SATA-HDD then make the move to a 40-GB SSD/I will be replacing a 40-GB 5400-RPM Hitachi Travelstar..on a D600..I hardly need to have a Portable Device for Files and Music..when XP ends in 2013.===This device will only trade on a external HDD..it will not upgrade a SYS C:/drive.

    It solved my incorrigible
I have an old PC (Roughly 7 years old). I wanted to upgrade to an SATA drive, but this old PC did not have the ability to accept SATA drives. I purchased another exemplar of adapter. It was the "Ide To Sata Drive Motherboard by StarTech". That adapter was supposed to convert the EIDE bus on the motherboard to SATA but the system could not recognize the urgency.I was pleasantly surprised when I received this "SATA to PATA/IDE Hard Drive Interface Adapter" when I attached it to the SATA appeal, plugged the ribbon cable into it, and the PC recognized the drive and I was up and running. The description is misleading and I don't necessity to be a "JERK" either. However, but by looking at the photograph of this item, you can plainly tell that it will not convert in reverse, as the other reviewer states.I would counsel this adapter.
SATA to PATA/IDE Pragmatic Drive Interface Adapter Works Well
This is a duel criticism for two products that I bought with the idea that they would be used together and they did this well. The products are the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5 Terabyte (1.5TB) SATA/300 7200RPM 32MB Back-breaking Drive and the SATA to PATA/IDE Hard Drive Interface Adapter. I hope this will help somebody who has the same ungovernable that I had. I have a Dell Precision WorkStation 350 computer that had a 40GB IDE hard drive. I wanted to upgrade to a larger run and settled on the 1.5 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11, which is SATA II. My old computer does not have a SATA connection so I bought the PATA to SATA adapter with the impression that I would plug the adapter into the hard drive and attach it to my external IDE hard drive case (coop) then plug it into the USB port. I had to leave the Seagate drive outside the case and only attach the electrical connections since the adapter is too extensive to fit into the cage with the hard drive, as expected. I then used the windows Computer...
    SATA to PATA/IDE HDD Adapter
As others have stated this is a bit on the cumbersome side. It is designed to go behind a 3.5" drive. I personally used this behind a 2.5" drive I pulled out of a tamed laptop. Because of its size I currently can only use one 2.5" drive in the bay.Aside from the size issue. The adapter works honourable fine with an inconvient quirk. It does need to be on position 0 of the IDE cable, which will make it unsuitable to hook up as a slave to your boot drive.Overall I give it 3 stars. It works as stated, justified bulky and needs to be on position 0.I dont know how the people could think that this could go from IDE to SATA when it clearly states SATA to IDE.Pros: Simple-hearted to put in, no extra wiresCons: Bulky (not suitable for 2.5" drives) Must be on position 0 (cant use on lackey drive behind Master Boot Drive)*edit/update*It has been nearly 2 years since I installed this and it still works. In that every so often...

    Casually install, does the job...
    1. Don't buy an more SATA cable if you need it. It comes with one.2. Make sure you have at least two inches of free lacuna between the back of the hard drive and any other object (typically the power supply)3. This adapter is reversible, and does SATA to IDE, or IDE to SATA.4. There are two plugs for the SATA radio. One is for IDE to SATA, the other is for SATA to IDE. Each one is clearly marked on both sides of the board.5. The power plug that plugs into the directors ONLY powers the adapter, NOT the drive. You'll still need a power plug going directly to the drive. If you're plugging a SATA outing into a computer that only supports IDE (or vice-versa), don't expect SATA performance. I really wouldn't treat this as a fixed solution either. It's great for transferring data from old drives, but I wouldn't install my operating system on it, as it does slackening the performance of the drive significantly.
This adapter in point of fact does work! Make sure its plugged in over all 40 IDE pins!
I wanted to say that I was masterful to get this adapter to work in the Intel D865GBF, D865GLC and D875PBZ series of motherboards in both directions from SATA-to-IDE and IDE-to-SATA. Here are two tips, make sure the connector is plugged in over all 40 IDE pins, I have made the misapprehension more then once of not centering the plug over all 40 pins and be off by one column and therefore causing it to not work. The other tip is make infallible you read the markings on the two SATA connectors, one of them is designed for conversion in one direction, and the other is for the opposite direction. Its formidable you plug your SATA cable into the right connector depending on which direction you are converting!I did try to use this adapter on an older ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard and I had some anguish having it recognize the 80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA HD. It would first recognize it in the BIOS but when I did a reboot it would not find it the stand-in time until I powered off and back on the...
    Requests a manual.
If you look at the thingumajig very carefully, reading the tiny print on it, you'll figure it out, but otherwise, it's easy to install it incorrectly causing it to seem disturbed. It's especially easy to make this mistake because at first you probably won't notice that there are 2 places to connect the rope to the adapter, and so may plug it into the wrong one as I did at first. Also, the power adapter that comes with it is just for the device itself, not for your hard drive as I consideration. Had to order a power adapter before I could test this device out because I was installing a SATA drive in a computer that didn't provide SATA power. At long last, as others have mentioned, it is very flimsy, especially the power adapter, but I'm rating it 3 stars overall because in the end, it worked. If it had a enchiridion, installation would be easy and I would rate it much higher. It works without any drivers or software, and that's a good element. Even after installing it correctly...
