    Lifelike laptop for Linux freaks
The before reviews covered most (if not all) of the positives about this computers. As for one reviewer's dislike of the keyboard, that's clearly a puzzle of taste as I find the keyboard OK, position-wise and the feel of the keys.Anyhow, to take up the issue stated in this upon title. The first thing I did after acquiring the RV-511 was to junk Windows 7 and install GNU-Linux Ubuntu 10.04. This is the most modern Long Term Support Ubuntu distro. It installed without ANY problems at all. And needed only the Broadcom driver to get wifi working perfectly. I disabled the touchpad (it is very sensitive) and use a mouse instead. The screen is bright with good flush rendition. The sound, well, mediocre comes to mind. The RV-511 runs very quietly and fresh. I've monitored the temperatures fairly frequently and they are well below the point where the fan needs to cut in.For the few Windows apps that don't have any adjacent to (or as good as) Linux equivalents...
    Intimate laptop
I bought this laptop about 8 months ago and I certainly love it. I am a teacher and move from school to school during the day so it travels everywhere with me. I have not had a single problem with it so far, despite the revile it takes on a daily basis. I absolutely love the "quick restart" after closing the lid because when I am teaching it is trim that my computer is back on in 5 seconds. My old computer took a minute before I could get back on and access programs. The keyboard types very easily and it doesn't tone like a "laptop" keyboard to me. Having a side number keypad was absolutely essential for me as well, which this computer does. My only squawk is that the silver finish near the keyboard is a little scratched up, but again, I am not easy on it. As long as it is still working okay, it doesn't hassle me. Despite the wear, I still have students saying how fancy the laptop looks even though this was relatively second-rate compared to comparable laptops of equal build. I...
    hmm.
I only bought this computer 2 days ago,I had a much more expensive HP before hand, it broke within a year & never operated correctly...I couldn't fix in place windows 7 on it because something messed up the first time and I had to do a complete system reboot to even be able to watch videos or hear to music on it.... essentially it wasn't worth what I paid...and I/computer techs couldn't conspicuous a rely out this problem for 6 months! so essentially I didn't watch videos or listen to music for 6 months on a comp... HP conclusively fixed it with a system reboot. So I began researching Samsung considering we have a tv and a phone in my house by them (we got the tv to return a sony tv that blew out within a year, don't buy a sony tv ppl!) and it seemed like they have about the same standards as most hp's...if not better.but I find the design preferably, I don't feel like i'm going to break it if I drop it. I dropped my HP and it broke, the costs were almost as much as my new...

    Advantage choice
This is an the best computer. I never booted Windows Vista, instead, the first thing I did was throw in the Ubuntu Linux disk, so I have no concept what kind of bloatware was originally on the computer. Everything worked out of the box with Linux, except for the Fn key, which I never use. There is a fix for it that I will try out, just in case.Yes, it is expandable to 4GB of RAM. The splendour is beautiful. The keyboard is very comfortable to type on. It is blazing fast. Ripping CDs takes no in days of yore whatsoever. For a laptop, the sound is very good. I get great wireless signal strength.I was at first regretting not purchasing the wenge golden-brown computer, but at the time the silver one with the same specs was much cheaper. For the money I saved, the color is perfect. For the common web surfing, light photo editing, and music listening that I do, I do not need anymore computer than this. I have no complaints.
    large deal for the price
I bought this laptop on Ban Friday at Best Buy and only paid $399...for four hundred dollars you absolutely cannot beat it. The computer is very nice to look at, the protect is beautiful, the keys are comfortable, and the sound is great. The only problem I have with the computer has nothing to do with the actual computer at all - I hate Windows Vista. Since I bought the computer I have been spending all my unstinting time trying to downgrade from Windows Vista to Windows XP with no avail. Sony won't unprotected up this model for a downgrade until at least the first quarter of 2008 and even then you will have to pay for this to be done. Vista isn't compatible with all routers, so since my roommate already had an Airport Restrictive router (and isn't open to switching to a new router), I have no internet access. If you are buying this computer make definite you check the compatibility with your router first or be prepared to buy a new one along with the computer as it is a huge hassle to try to make them...
    No web cam?
No webcam which isn't a immense deal, the 1gb of memory can be upgraded, but what the hell is Sony think they are doing spamming Vaio users with Vista bloatware. This notebook lags so deficiently, and by no fault of it's own it's just all the bloatware that Sony loads on these computers to annoy and slap users who paid their solid earned money for a good notebook. To save everyone time go to yahoo or any search mechanism and type in "remove crap ware tool" and download it. Rather then spend hours removing all the pleonastic naturally nonsence that is bloatware off this notbook, this program will scan your computer and bring up an amazing list that you can select what programs you thirst removed, saves time, lots of time considering how much spam is on this machine. On cloud nine hunting!

where can i find a laptop preinstalled with Ubuntu?

    please no spam

I will patronize what Ron has said: The Dell 1505 can have Ubuntu Feisty Fawn preinstalled. This choice will get you a 50 dollar take in the total cost of the notebook.

Other then Dell and system76, who sell ubuntu laptop and desktops.?

Who push desktops and laptops with ubuntu preinstalled.
With ether 8.04 LTS or 9.04 ubuntu.

If it uses a different linux operating system, I am wealthy to need some confirmations that it was tested to work fully under ubuntu.
